PM - Project Mgmt

The PM module defines a collaborative space that concentrates all project-relevant information in a single HTML page. The information a user has access to in this space depends on their degree of authority and position within the project, all of which can be defined by the central project administrator.

Gantt Editors

]po[ integrates with popular Open Source Gantt editors.

GanttProject - ]po[ supports "round-trip" editing with GanttProject. That means you can upload a GanttProject schedule to ]po[ modify the schedule in ]po[, download the schedule from ]po[ into GanttProject, continue to edit the schedule and upload the result into ]po[ etc. Find additional information about supported versions here.
OpenProj - we are working on "round-trip" editing for OpenProject.
Microsoft Project - ]po[ can import schedules from MS-Project using GanttProject as a converter.

We decided do postpone activities in regards to create a proper, integrated Gantt editor until more powerful open source libraries for Gantt Editing are available.

Displaying the Gantt Schedule

]po[ includes a read-only display of the project's Gantt schedule. However, this display is not editable.

Fine-Grain Project Time Estimation

In addition to the functionality provided by Gantt editors, ]po[ includes an editor for three additional measures per project task:

Estimated Hours:
This figure specified a kind of "budget" for a specific project task. It details the project manager's estimated how many hours it will take to complete the task.
Billable Hours:
This figure is similar to "estimated hours". However, it specifies how many of the estimated hours can be billed to a customer. For example activities such as "pre-sales" or "bug fixing" may not be billable to a customer.
Logged Hours:
This figure is automatically calculated by ]po[ based on the number of hours logged by user on the project task.

These three figures also form the base for the [project tracking] process and [project invoicing] processes.
